This is the first of the color coats on the bulwarks. I would have loved to have painted the old girl claret, or some kind of maroon, but didn't want a dark color because they absorb too much heat in the tropics. So it had to be light, but couldn't be a pastel because that's just not suitable for a big heavy boat like this... and I had always kind of liked awlgrip's stars and stripes blue, but felt it was too dark and besides it was becoming fairly common. So I settled on mixing 2 quarts of arctic white with every gallon of stars and stripes blue, and this is the result. Next
